Tourism Council WA Launches ATAP

8 July 2008

WA’S TOURISM ACCREDITATION PROGRAM GOES ONLINE

CeCC joins with the Tourism Council WA in celebrating the state launch of the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (www.atap.net.au). CeCC has developed and hosts the innovative online online services which are supporting the progressive rollout of the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program.

Tourism businesses can now achieve their accreditation online through a new program designed to help establish business operating systems and plans required for industry accreditation.

Tourism Council WA President, Scott Henderson launched the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program – WA’s online application tool last night saying that accreditation is crucial in raising service standards, delivery and the development of quality products within Western Australia.

“Accreditation enables our visitors to make informed and confident choices about the legitimacy and quality of our tourism products,” Mister Henderson said.

“This new online program enables operators to complete their accreditation application at their own pace, in their own time, with all the tools, templates and information at their fingertips,” he said. Previously operators would complete a paper-based application, but the new online program is a significant enhancement to the National Tourism Accreditation Program that has been operating in WA for over 10 years.

The program was developed in partnership with National Tourism Accreditation Program Managers from VIC, SA, TAS, ACT and NT. It is the culmination of the skills and resources from all participating states and territories. The project has also been made possible by the significant grant monies provided by Tourism WA to grow and enhance the current accreditation program in Western Australia.

The accreditation program includes business operating systems, licences and permits, insurance details, marketing plans, customer service delivery, human resource management, risk management, economic sustainability and financial systems, environmental management, social and cultural sustainability, codes of practice and codes of ethics.

There are a number of incentives currently available to accredited operators including marketing discounts, grant opportunities and reductions in insurance premiums to name a few.
