'Knowledge for Country' discussions in NT

30 July 2010

The Natural Resource Management Board (NT) has been established to implement a strategic approach to natural resource management. Indigenous Ecological Knowledge (IEK), a key focus area for the NRMB(NT), can be described as an ancient and intricate body of knowledge of the environment that provided (and continues to provide) the basis for this country’s first people to survive for countless generations in the Australian landscape.

During December 2009, the NRMB(NT) invited CeCC to assist with establishing online services for the IEK project, initially to support interaction based around a discussion paper on indigenous ecological knowledge.  CeCC has delivered services including an on-line forum, provided access to the IEK discussion paper, and integrated features such as blogs.

The ‘Knowledge for Country’ online discussion forum was launched on 4 June 2010.  CeCC will continue to provide support for the project, particularly in the lead-up to the Knowledge for Country Forum to be held in September 2010.
