Two new resources to grow exports from the Central Highlands!

MEDIA RELEASE

GrowExport.com and the Central Highlands Export Mentor Pool grew from the "Growing Jobs Through Export" project, a project made possible through Regional Assistance Programme funding administered by the Department of Transport and Regional Services.

The project was funded to achieve the following three objectives:

During the project, export businesses in the Central Highlands region took part in an export survey. It was found that the region lacks "Start Up" exporting skills and needs to be kept informed of export opportunities, training, news and events.

The development of an Export Mentor Pool derived from the region’s business community and ongoing training delivered in Ballarat are strategies to overcome the export skill deficiencies. Leading business people and individuals from a range of industries have agreed to share their knowledge and expertise to allow other businesses to grow.

The web resource GrowExport.com publicises export services, opportunities, news, events, web links, training and provides users with opportunities to contribute to the site or take part in an on-line export discussion forum. The secure "back end" of GrowExport.com is a database of regional companies who are the "export community" of the Central Highlands of Victoria. This database supplies the contact details, export information, product and service details of the regions export enterprises. It isa tool used and maintained by organisations involved in the economic development of the Central Highlands Region of Victoria.

Senator Judith Troeth launched these two exciting resources on Thursday August 7, 2003 at the Ballarat Export Network Forum.

The Australian Industry Group started the Ballarat Export Network Forum to provide a networking opportunity for people already exporting or looking to export in the future. Sponsored by Ausindustry, the Forum is held on a bi-monthly basis and a range of guest speakers are invited to present on export related matters.
