Fitzroy Legal Service Education Portal launch

24 May 2011

Fitzroy Legal Service launched the latest companion site to The Law Handbook Online in Melbourne on 4 May 2011.

The Education Portal caters to teachers and students interested in understanding how law is used to address current social issues.  The website is complete with background notes, lesson plans and a directory of educational activities offered by community legal centres, the Courts, parliament and government agencies.  CeCC developed the technologies which underpin The Education Portal creating specific sections for lesson plans and an organisational directory.

Users can search the directory by either subject or their location (via postcode).  The site also contains fact sheets and a link to The Law Handbook and the Law4community websites.

The Education Portal is part of the Law Handbook Online project. Funded by the Legal Services Board, the Project included the transition of The Law Handbook to a free public website, development of Law4community a resource for the community sector and finally the Educational Portal. These online resources were created to improve access to the law and encourage a greater understanding of legal rights and responsibilities.
