CHAD Project: Official Launch - 2003, 6th December

The Cultural and Historical Artefacts Database (CHAD) project was officially launched on Saturday 6th of December. This exciting new initiative brings together the various cultural and historical groups from throughout the entire Moorabool Shire and provides a centralised repository of artefacts within the region. The CHAD project also provides groups with a simple and effective means of managing their own collections. Other elements of the project involving the digitisation and storage of artefacts will improve the long term prosperity of the Shires cultural assets.

The Bacchus Marsh Blacksmiths Cottage served as the pilot organisation during the initial stages of the project and now has over 380 artefacts entered into the system. The Cottage is currently in the process of digitising its collection and many of the artefacts now have detailed images available.

The launch was held at the Mechanic's Institute Hall,  Inglis Street Ballan on Saturday 6th December at 2pm where attendees enjoyed the opportunity to view the system in action.

The application is now available for the public to browse or search at the following address http://www.mconline.com.au/chad/about_chad.php
