Ballarat: A Learning City Website Launch

Cr Val Sheil officially launched the new look Ballarat: A Learning City website on Monday 6th of September 2004. The event was held at the Ballarat Library and was well attended. CECC manager Helen Thompson spoke about the new functionality incorporated into the website including the "Regional Learning Connections" database.

Website features include:

  • Regional Learning Connections database
    Regional Learning Connections is a searchable repository of learning opportunities within the Central Highlands region. The repository is maintained by the course providers ensuring the currency of information is maintained.

Ballarat: A Learning City Executive Officer, Rosie King said the power of a website could never be underestimated. 'It will become a valuable place for people to find out what's going on in the region. We wanted to upgrade our site to provide enhanced functionality to the community. I'm sure there will be many more upgrades in the future,' Ms King said.

Cr Val Sheil said it was fanatic to be involved in a community that was thirsty for knowledge. The fresher, more feature-packed Ballarat: A Learning City website would be used as a tool to further encourage the community to embrace life-long learning.

CECC is proud of its four-year relationship with the Ballarat: A Learning City project and look forward to seeing the new website being used to effectively promote learning opportunities within the Central Highlands Region.
