Submission summaries

Submisssion one - "Revolutionary collaboration, workflow management and communication systems for plain language publishing"

Submitted under categories:
Category 1 - BEST RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATION
Category 5 - BEST COLLABORATION WITH A REGIONAL FOCUS – Research & Development or Education & Training
Category 6 - BEST COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COLLABORATION

This submission is based on our partnership with the Victoria Law Foundation which resulted in the creation of Docbook Manager.

Project Summary:
Many organisations face similar challenges in efficiently and effectively managing content throughout their lifecycle. This is particularly the case when complex workflows apply or where geographically dispersed teams share responsibility for content creation and ongoing development. Through the implementation of Rural Law Online, CeCC designed and piloted an innovative and highly flexible web-based application which revolutionises the traditional publishing process. The application is based upon a write-once, publish anywhere methodology otherwise known as ‘single source publishing’. Since this first project, the CeCC single source publishing services have been customised and enhanced to meet the needs of other plain language publishers. Its collaborative and flexible nature is providing partner organisations with major efficiencies in the editing and publication process. Community access to plain language legal information has also advanced significantly. (Extracted from BHert Award application)

Submission two - "Tourism Skills Delivery: Sharing Tourism Knowledge Online"

Submitted under categories:
Category 2 - BEST EDUCATION & TRAINING COLLABORATION
Category 5 - BEST COLLABORATION WITH A REGIONAL FOCUS – Research & Development or Education & Training

Participating Organisations:

  • University of Ballarat
  • Tourism Accreditation Board of Victoria
  • SA Tourism Accreditation Board
  • Tourism Council Western Australia

Project Summary:
Tourism Skills Delivery: Sharing Tourism Knowledge Online uses blended learning methods to contribute to the continuous improvement of tourism industry performance and industry standards by creating tourism businesses that are professional in their approach and generate consumer confidence. The program provides tourism operators access to modules on a ‘skilling needs’ basis, with the full set of modules effectively preparing tourism operators for tourism accreditation. The program differentiates itself in that is not a stand-alone training program. Through the successful formulation of partnerships across Victorian and national tourism bodies, the latest national standards and content for accreditation are included in this program, offering the tourism industry comprehensive skill development that aligns with national standards and accreditation requirements.
