Coordinating online and print publishing

Tuesday 18 March, Victoria Law Foundation
9am – 11.45am including morning tea

As producers of community legal information, we’d all like to make the best use of our time and money and use our existing resources more cleverly in our publishing processes. ‘Single source publishing’ provides a coordinated approach to print and online publishing, and it’s being used successfully in community legal centres here in Victoria.

Join Helen Thompson, Director of the Centre for eCommerce & Communications (CeCC), University of Ballarat, as she demonstrates and explains:

  • the concept of single source publishing
  • advantages for small organisations and the legal sector
  • benefits for collaborative publishing
  • how the CeCC online publishing application works and what it does
  • technical support

Fitzroy Community Legal Service’s Publications & Communications Officer Simon Roberts will also share his knowledge and experiences with single source publishing from a publisher’s point of view, especially in relation to getting it funded and up and running, project management and processes, and reaching your target audience.

Finally, Carmen Harbour, Law Handbook Editor at Fitzroy Community Legal Service, will discuss the practical aspects of editing online, usability and time savings, and provide some tips on possible enhancements to your publications.
